Student & Equine Placements

Hands-on placements and mentorships at Spring Spur

Spring Spur provides hands-on placements and mentorships for students and emerging professionals in the equine and tourism industries. We’ve been mentoring riders and horse professionals since 1986.

Who It’s For

We welcome candidates studying equine disciplines, agriculture, eco-tourism, or outdoor recreation at Certificate III/IV level or higher. Veterinary and animal science students seeking practical experience with a working horse herd are also considered, as are individuals building genuine horse experience regardless of formal qualifications.

What Placements Involve

  • Daily horse care, handling and stable management for a 50-plus horse herd
  • Natural horsemanship and trail guide instruction
  • Saddlery maintenance and equine health observation
  • Trail riding and packhorse tour operations
  • Farm management and conservation work with Parks Victoria

Duration & Structure

Placements range from short work-experience blocks to longer seasonal mentorships, tailored to your course requirements and our operational availability. Students work under the supervision of experienced guides and management staff.
