Our Farm

About our Farm

Spring Spur is nestled below the peaks of Mount Bogong, Mount Fainter and Mount Feathertop, in the sheltered valley of Mountain Creek, an upper tributary of the Kiewa River. It’s home to Bogong Horseback Adventures and the Baird family. First acquired by Steve and Kath in the 1980s, when it was little more than a cow paddock enclosed by a barbed wire fence, the Spring Spur farm has been lovingly developed into a home for livestock, humans and all the diversity of life in the Alpine Valleys. Our farm ethos is to grow and nurture links between our stories and our guests, our land and our environment, our family and our community, our paddocks and kitchen, and our cultural heritage and nature-based adventures.

The Baird Family

Kath and Steve Baird moved to Tawonga in 1986 with their sons Lin and Clay, arriving with a truckload of horses and a vision for a family business that would honour the traditions of the High Country horse while offering unique, quality visitor experiences. Spring Spur continues as a family business today — home base for the adventure company, a family home, and a place for guests all at once.

Acknowledgement of Country
