At Spring Spur, caring for the land is not just good practice — it is central to everything we do.

Our Property and the Land

We manage our farm with environmental health as a priority, including native tree and plant restoration to enhance habitat and biodiversity. Waterways are protected through fencing and vegetation buffers, with dedicated zones for native species, and our farm biosecurity practices work to prevent invasive weeds and pests.

Water

Our property incorporates grey water recycling and rainwater harvesting systems to reduce our reliance on potable water sources, alongside responsible drainage and soil management to protect waterway health.

Energy and Buildings

Our accommodation and facilities use passive solar design for natural light and thermal mass efficiency. We currently have solar voltaic panels installed on the homestead and commercial buildings, with a planned expansion to a battery system planned for 2027.

Transport and Emissions

An electric Polaris vehicle operates on site, and EV charging infrastructure for guests and operations is planned for installation in 2027.

Food, Local Suppliers and Low Food Miles

On-site food production and local sourcing support regional producers and reduce transport emissions.

Waste

We maintain a waste minimisation policy across all areas of the business, focusing on reducing what we use, reusing where we can, and recycling appropriately.

Looking Forward

We’re working toward formal carbon emissions measurement and Ecotourism Australia certification.

Recent Programs

North East Catchment Management Authority — Climate Smart Agriculture Grant (2026)
Spring Spur received a grant through NECMA under the Climate Smart Agriculture Program. This 10-year land management partnership focuses on improving the natural assets and climate resilience of our property, with activities including native revegetation, waterway protection, weed management, and off-stream watering points to reduce livestock pressure on waterways.

Guests can participate in biodiversity monitoring via iNaturalist and Bogong Moth tracking at mothtracker.swifft.net.au.
