Spring Spur has operated since 1986 as a family-run business in Victoria’s High Country, offering trail rides, multi-day treks, and farmstay accommodation from Tawonga.

Trail Guide, Hosting & All-Rounder

A contract position with a 4-week paid trial and potential 3–6 month extension. Thursday to Sunday, 4 days flexibly (weekends only some weeks; up to 5 days during school holidays). Own accommodation or caravan required, self-catered. Visa-eligible (88 days). Start date: September 1st.

Responsibilities:

  • Trail guiding for day and multi-day pack horse treks
  • Horse husbandry (feeding, grooming, care)
  • Guest room servicing and laundry
  • Property maintenance (gardening, fencing)

Requirements:

  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Trail Guide Horse Safety Australia accreditation
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Confident, competent rider with open country experience
  • Previous tourism/hospitality experience
  • Leadership ability and a strong work ethic

This position is not for juniors.

Casual Trail Guide

Casual, with seasonal and year-round availability. You’ll play a key part in delivering safe, high-quality riding experiences across our range of rides, from two-hour to full-day options.

Duties:

  • Guest greeting and ride preparation
  • Horse handling (catching, grooming, saddling)
  • Lead, middle, or tail guide responsibilities
  • Basic riding instruction
  • Tack and facility maintenance

Requirements:

  • Confident riding ability and horse handling experience
  • A warm, professional approach to customer service
  • Current First Aid & CPR (Level 2 minimum)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Availability for weekends, holidays and peak periods
