Spring Spur Shiraz 2023
Shiraz · 2023 · Alpine Valleys
Tasting Notes
A warm vineyard site in an Alpine region makes for a beautiful expression of Shiraz. Taking weight and fruit intensity from the heat of summer and combining it with the elegance and length of cool Alpine evenings. Maturation for a full year in french oak puts the finishing touch to a balanced and serious yet very approachable wine.
Winemaking
Pristine fruit was harvested from the Conmara vineyard in Whoroughly South at the end of March. The fruit was then crushed before undergoing fermentation in a stainless steel tank. The wine was then pressed to flexcube where it finished alcoholic fermentation and underwent malolactic fermentation. Once complete it was transferred to one, two and three year old french oak hogshead barrels for maturation. After a full year in oak the wine was filtered and bottled in September.
